The public accounts committee has criticised the Department for Education’s (DfE) “poor execution” of the Apprenticeship Levy after the number of new starters slumped by 26% in 2017/18.
The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed that employers will be able to spread up to 10% of apprenticeship levy funds to multiple businesses from July.
The IMI has claimed that a combination of confusion surrounding the Apprenticeship Levy and the “increased administrative burden” it placed on employers could be to blame for a 26.5% decline in new apprentices.
The Government is pressing ahead with the introduction of its apprenticeship levy in April 2017 despite calls from industry to delay its introduction.
The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed to AM it will release more detailed information about its apprenticeship levy this Friday.
