Hilary Nicol has announced she is retiring as finance director at Chorley Group after 30 years in the role.
Nicol will pass over the reins to head of finance Will How, but will be acting in an advisory role and will also stay on in an advisory role to the Chorley board of directors.
A statement from Chorley Group’s chairman Andrew Turner on LinkedIn said: “Hilary has been on a hell of a journey with the group, from our very early days at Bugle Inn, to our European tours with export, to our recent expansion across the North West, Hilary has been faultless, dependable, reliable and committed to the business every single step of the way.
“From a personal perspective, Hilary has been one of my constant councils, always there at any time of day or night, to keep us on track, keep the business heading forward and ensure we have a sustainable platform for continued growth.
“She has been and still is part of our family and while her surname may not be the same, it just proves that you don’t always need to be related to be part of a family unit.
“Hilary retires from her “day to day” but will still be a huge part of the Chorley Group family for all of time, she will continue to support Will from afar in his transition to leading the finance department and will also adopt a role of “advisor to the board”, offering her years of experience as a soundboard for the team, always on the end of the phone to offer an opinion when needed.”
