Volvo Car UK has appointed Jon Wakefield as its acting managing director.

Wakefield succeeds Nick Connor, who has been appointed chief executive of Polestar, and will assume his post on July 1st.

Previously Volvo Car UK’s sales director, Wakefield has worked for Volvo in the UK for nearly four years having joined the brand from Fiat Group in 2012, where he had worked as sales director across the Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands.

Volvo Car UK’s experienced its most successful sales year for over 20 years in 2015, contributing to a strong global performance with the brand registering more than half a million cars globally for the first time in its history.

This year is expected to bring further sales growth as the eagerly anticipated new Volvo V90 and Volvo S90 arrive in the UK later this year.
