Pentagon Motor Group is cementing its partnership with Chinese EV giant BYD, announcing its fifth dealership for the brand.

Following launching in Lincoln, the group has already added BYD locations in Derby and Nottingham, with Burton set to open soon. Now, Pentagon confirms it will open a new BYD showroom in Warrington this month.

“We are truly delighted with our expanding BYD relationship,” said David Peel, managing director of Pentagon. “Public and fleet interest and sales at Lincoln set an early trend for us. Since then, we’ve seen strong performances at Derby and Nottingham, and we confidently expect Burton and now Warrington to follow suit.”

Peel, who is stepping down as MD this year and will be replaced by Tom Carney, added that BYD’s sales in Q1 2025 have already overtaken total 2024 volumes, adding: “BYD has strong ambitions for the rest of the year – ambitions I have no doubt they will hit.”

To accommodate the new BYD facility, which will be located alongside its existing Ford new and used car sales and service at Warrington, Pentagon is relocating its Ford Transit Centre operations.

The commercial vehicle business will move to Pentagon’s site in Runcorn, where it will become a stand-alone Transit Centre. The Runcorn site already hosts Ford used car sales and provides car and LCV servicing.

Peel said the shift reflects Pentagon’s commitment to both brands: “Ford is the market leader in light commercial vehicles, and we want our operations to reflect that. The Runcorn development will ensure excellent Ford LCV sales and aftersales support for both private and commercial customers in the region.”

He added: “No business can stand still. We’re fortunate in Pentagon to have a portfolio of leading brands and the financial strength to remain agile in a fast-moving market. This allows us to support our manufacturer partners as opportunities arise.”
