Kia is planning to enter the compact SUV sector this year with its new Stonic model.

The manufacturer says the car is an eye-catching and confident compact crossover with true European design flair.

Seen here in these renderings the Stonic is clearly inspired by the form and function of larger Kia SUVs.

According to Kia the cabin echoes the appearance of the exterior, with straight lines, smooth surfaces and geometric design forms.

Technology and ergonomics are the focus, with smart packaging maximising space for all occupants, and a ‘floating’ HMI (human-machine interface) "seamlessly blending smartphone access with the car’s many functions", a statement said.
