Motorway has appointed new marketing chief Naomi Walkland who joins from online dating app Bumble.

Walkland joins from NASDAQ-listed Bumble where she was vice president of marketing, responsible for leading the international marketing team, driving new customer and revenue growth outside of the US.

She was part of the team which took Bumble public in 2021 and built and scaled the marketing team and operations across EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and APAC (Asia Pacific).

Reporting to Tom Leathes, CEO  and co-founder of Motorway,, Naomi will be responsible for Motorway's marketing strategy and will oversee brand and product marketing, growth marketing, communications, and business marketing.

Motorway said Walkland brings the perfect blend of experience, having expanded Bumble’s brand presence into over 15 markets worldwide and having led some of Bumble’s most impactful global campaigns.

As Motorway continues to grow market share at a rapid pace, it said Walkland will help accelerate Motorway to the next stage of growth and that her previous go-to-market experience will be invaluable as Motorway brings to life new propositions and scales them.

Recognised for her leadership and contributions to marketing, Walkland is an Honorary Fellow of The Marketing Society and has been recognised by Marketing Week and Campaign Magazine as one of the top marketing leaders in the UK in their annual ‘Power 100’ and ‘Marketing Week Top 100 Effective Leaders’.

She sits on the global board of The Marketing Society and is an Advisor for OK Mentor, which provides free in-person training and mentorship programs for women graduates looking to break into creative industries.

Commenting on her appointment Walkland said: "I’m thrilled to join the Motorway team and contribute to the company’s momentum and growth. Their plans for continued innovation for consumers and their dealer partners are exciting, and I'm looking forward to being part of Motorway’s next stage of their journey.”
