Used car supermarket Motorpoint plans to open its 21st dealership in Norwich by the end of the year, furthering the brand’s expansion in East Anglia.

The new store follows the opening of Motorpoint's Ipswich car showroom in May 2023.

Motorpoint had paused its network expansion in the second half of 2023 due to financial difficulties as its profits plunged, but a restructuring and cost reduction programme has since been implemented.

The new location will be situated on the former CarStore site at Turnpike Close, boosting the company’s presence in the east of England.

It will have the capacity to display over 220 nearly new and used cars from more than 30 manufacturers, with all vehicles available for customers to drive away on the same day.

As part of a multi-million-pound investment in the region, the new Norwich store will create 25 new jobs, covering both front and back of house positions.

Discussing the new store opening and Motorpoint’s decision to expand its regional presence, Mark Carpenter, Motorpoint Group CEO, said: “With the success of our Ipswich and Peterborough stores we knew we wanted to expand our presence in East Anglia, so bringing the Motorpoint brand to Norwich was an obvious choice.

"Once the store opens, we’ll have fantastic coverage in the region – meaning car buyers across the East of England will be within easy driving distance of a Motorpoint store.

The announcement follows a solid first half of the year for Motorpoint, with the used car retailer announcing a 17% increase in sales volumes and recovering pre-tax profit of around £2 million for the six months ending on September 30.
