Mon Motors expands with takeover of seven Volkswagen Group showrooms

Mon Motors has doubled its representation of Volkswagen Group brands with an acquisition of dealerships in the West Country.

The family-owned dealer group has taken over Bristol Skoda, Bristol Cupra and Bristol Volkwagen, plus Gloucester Cupra and Gloucester Skoda, Volkswagen Weston-super-Mare and Cheltenham Audi from Heritage Automotive.

Mon Motors is in 51st position in the AM100 currently and the deal is likely to move it past Yeomans and Porsche Retail Group into the first half of the rankings.

AM100 data shows it already had three Audi, one Skoda, one Seat and two Volkswagen Seat dealerships, plus Ford and Volvo sites.

Managing director Gavin Cleverly said the group is now recruiting for extra staff, including a head of business.

He said that following the acquisition he has been out visiting the new sites.

"I'm delighted to welcome everyone into the Mon Motors family. It's been fantastic to have met so many positive and enthusiastic people across all the sites," he said.

It leaves Heritage Automotive with one Audi dealership in Salisbury, Volkswagen dealerships in Dorchester, Salisbury and Yeovil, one Skoda dealership at Yeovil, plus a Honda dealership in Gloucester, Ineos showrooms in Dorchester and Gloucester, and several motorcycle outlets.
