Marshall Motor Group, a fixture in Cambridge since 1938, is set to close its iconic Cambridge Airport dealership to make way for a new state-of-the-art complex.

After 86 years at its historic location, the AM 100 retailer will relocate to a ‘super-site’ on Newmarket Road, following approval from Cambridgeshire County Council.

David Gregory Marshall originally founded Marshall Motor Group from a small lock-up garage premises in Brunswick Gardens and has called the Cambridge Airport site home since before World War II.

The move comes as part of Marshall's Marleigh residential development which will see the airport site (pictured below) transformed into a 1,300-home residential development.

The new dealership will feature four main buildings: a sales and showroom area, a valet centre, an MOT and servicing workshop, a four-level multi-storey car park and electric vehicle charging.

Councillors from Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council approved the application on October 16, with a majority vote.
