Macklin Motors has unveiled a brand new Toyota centre on Heathfield Road in Ayr, expanding its presence in the west of Scotland after securing the Toyota franchise in 2022.

The £5 million facility features a modern showroom, valet building, MOT and servicing area, and 360 parking spaces for both display and customer vehicles.

Led by Angus Mclelland, who managed the previous centre, the Ayr branch also welcomes back master technician John White, a former national technician of the year.

General manager Chris McKenzie said: "I’m really pleased we are able to bring Toyota back to the people of Ayr and delighted that a familiar face to many, Angus, will be managing the centre.

Macklin Motors CEO Robert Forrester added:"The opening of our Toyota Ayr centre reflects our ongoing commitment to providing top-quality service to the West of Scotland.

“We are proud to continue our relationship with Toyota GB and look forward to serving the Ayr community with the same level of dedication that our Glasgow and Hamilton customers have come to expect."

A grand opening event is scheduled between September 26-29 where visitors can explore the new facilities.

AM100 plc Vertu Motors took over the Japanese carmaker’s franchise territory in the West of Scotland from Arnold Clark in 2022 and immediately announced plans to create four new retail sites to serve the region.

Arnold Clark had previously operated Toyota franchises in Aberdeen, Ayr, Paisley, Stirling and two in Glasgow, but chief executive Eddie Hawthorne told AM that it was orchestrating a re-franchising exercise which saw it exit from the Ford network.
