Mitsubishi Motors in the UK and OVO Energy have announced a new partnership to help drive the decarbonisation of transport.
The UK’s net-zero carbon commitment is expected to be met by 2050 and will require companies across industry working with one another.
These two companies have teamed up in order to offer eco-minded solutions to both their customer bases.
Rob Lindley, managing director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said: “OVO Energy and Mitsubishi Motors are ideally matched because both companies offer their customers the ability to take practical steps towards a greener future in a useful and pragmatic way.
“By joining forces, we will not only encourage even more people to accelerate their decarbonisation ambitions, we will also make it more convenient, affordable and practical for them to do so than ever before.”
The announcement of the partnership is the first stage in the collaboration between the companies, however, more details on future initiatives will be revealed in the coming months.
OVO Energy has already set its own zero-net goals, committing in Plan Zero to decarbonise its own operations and halve its members’ carbon footprint by 2030.
It currently offers a one-stop zero carbon solution at home and on the road called EV Everywhere, which allows electric vehicle drivers to choose from either a free smart charger or Polar plus membership, with a two-year fixed energy plan with 100% green energy.
Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has been selling the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV since 2014, and said its vehicles greatly reduce road noise and improve air quality in urban areas when driving in electric mode.
A recent survey of Outlander PHEV drivers revealed that 90% of customers charge their vehicles at least two to three times per week to take full advantage of its 28 mile (WLTP) electric range.
Tom Pakenham, director at OVO Energy, said: “Electrifying transport represents one of the biggest opportunities for like-minded businesses to work together and offer competitive greener solutions to their customers.
“We’re delighted to partner with Mitsubishi Motors to explore innovative and exciting ways to benefit our customers and the environment.”
