Former RAC director George Webb joins Hiyacar as executive chair

Keyless car-sharing platform Hiyacar has appointed George Webb, former executive director at RAC, as its new executive chair.

Webb’s experience will be crucial in advancing Hiyacar’s public sector fleet management, expanding its London car club network, and growing its peer-to-peer vehicle sharing service.

Webb began his career as a software entrepreneur, founding Tranman, a fleet management software company.

After leading a successful MBO, he joined RAC, where he rose to become chief executive of its defence business, securing £1.6 billion in contracts with the Ministry of Defence.

Commenting on his new role, Webb said, "I am thrilled to be appointed as executive chair of Hiyacar. With my background in transforming technology businesses, I look forward to driving Hiyacar’s success and advancing its sustainability goals as we work toward Net Zero targets."

Hiyacar's keyless platform supports over 100 car clubs in London and helps the public sector reduce costs and emissions by shifting from grey miles - those travelled in employees’ personal vehicles - to green, efficient pool fleets.

The service allows users to unlock and start vehicles via smartphone, eliminating the need for physical key exchanges and boosting fleet efficiency.
