Footage reveals full scale of devastating fire that ravaged Ron Skinner dealership (video)

Footage released by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service reveals the full scale of the devastating fire that severely damaged the Ron Skinner and Sons car dealership in Tredegar.

More than 100 firefighters were deployed to combat the fire which engulfed the large showroom on Friday, August 16. Local residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed due to the intense smoke.

By Saturday morning, the extent of the destruction became clear, and the dealership announced that it will remain closed "until further notice," although their other showrooms in Cardiff, Crosshands, and Neyland are operating as usual.

The damage included a collapsed ceiling and the destruction of hundreds of low-mileage used cars with an average value of £20,000 each, in addition to fallen debris in neighbouring gardens and smoke damage to local homes.

The dealership's owners expressed gratitude for the support they received, with a spokesperson stating, "What has happened is truly devastating for the Ron Skinner and Sons family and all the employees. We sincerely appreciate all the heartfelt messages and support."

The fire service's video shows nearly the entire building engulfed in flames, with debris falling from windows and parts of the ceiling collapsing.

A multi-agency investigation is now underway as the incident moves into the recovery phase, with authorities working to determine the cause of the blaze.

A Gwent police spokesperson told AM: “We received a report of a fire at a car dealership in Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate, Tredegar at around 11.30pm on Friday 16 August.

“Officers initially attended to support personnel from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service with traffic management and public safety. No injuries were reported. A multi-agency investigation is now underway to establish the cause of the fire.”
