Shoreham Vehicle Auctions (SVA) will host its annual charity car and van auctions for the 12th successive year on March 27-28.
The remarketing firm is once again supporting the Chestnut Tree House (CTH) Children’s Hospice, in Sussex.
SVA, with help from the south coast’s motor industry, has raised £230,000 in 12 years for the charity. The company raised more than £25,000 at its 2020 charity auction.
It is now calling on all local vehicle retailers to donate any running part-exchange cars or vans to the auctions, which will then be sold to help raise funds to meet CTH’s £10,000 daily running costs.
So far, local south coast car dealers Yeomans Group, Tates Group, Frosts4cars, and Hendy have already promised support.
Alex Wright, SVA’s managing director and official patron of the children’s hospice, said: “We are proud to have supported such a wonderful charity for over a decade. We would like to thank local dealers for helping make the auctions a success.”
With fewer used vehicles available this year, SVA has also introduced a variety of ‘direct to charity’ activity lots for buyers to bid on ranging from £30 for a magical hour in the multi-sensory room with a specially trained nurse, to £415 which pay for all services at the hospice for an hour for families in their care.
The Chestnut Tree House is a Sussex based hospice catering for children and young adults, with highly trained specialist staff and tailored facilities including a hydrotherapy pool and multisensory playrooms. All proceeds from donated items and pledges will go towards providing care and support for nearly 300 children and young adults with life-limiting conditions. Furthermore, for every donated vehicle, SVA is adding an additional £200 to the sold price.
Becki Jupp, fundraising and communications director at Chestnut Tree House said: “We are thankful for SVA’s support and look forward to working closely with them again. Charities have been hard hit over recent years and we are so grateful at the south coast motor industry’s support over the past 12 years.”
Fund raising cyclists from Lookers raised £150,000 after completing a 650km Birmingham to Belfast charity ride.
