Van Sales UK has appointed its first business development director as it adopts a new outbound sales strategy to support its growth ambition.
To date, the company’s sales force has concentrated on inbound inquiries. New recruit Liam Nicholas and his team of five business development executives will now take aim at van operators who so far have not used the services of Van Sales UK.
“We’re targeting companies with fleets of 10 vehicles or more,” said Nicholas. “We believe the quick turnaround and hassle-free service that we can offer is ideally suited to these busy operations, and we want to tell people exactly how we can help keep their businesses running smoothly.”
Van Sales UK has also recently recruited a new sales director, Paul Cox, whose stated aim is to increase the number of vehicles sold to 10,000 per year.
Parent company Vanaways has also signed a new deal with trade and DIY retailer Toolstation, which will market vans through its website, app and network of 550 stores.
Nicholas added: “There’s a real buzz about the business right now and everyone has an incredibly positive attitude. We’re all fully focused on providing the best possible customer service because – especially in the fleet market, where operators are replacing vehicles on a regular basis – that’s how we’ll prove we’re worthy of winning and retaining their business.”
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) expects 2022 to end with 290,000 new van registrations – down 18.5% on 2021 and 20.8% on 2019.
While the LCV market is expected to rally in 2023 to 330,000 units, and up to 351,000 units during 2024, these totals would still be below pre-pandemic levels.
