SsangYong Motors UK has added Somerset’s Platinum Motor Group to its list of franchisees with the opening of a new dealership in Frome.

Founded in Frome in 1976, the Trowbridge-based business which operates under the Renrod holding company, has added the Korean brand to a portfolio which already includes manufacturer franchises with Dacia, Hyundai, Nissan, Renault, Skoda, Toyota and Vauxhall.

Nick Laird, managing director at SsangYong Motors UK, said: “SsangYong Platinum is an outstanding dealer, and we are delighted that they have joined the SsangYong family.

“The Platinum Group has a superb reputation in the south-west, and we look forward to a positive and professional working relationship with them.”

SsangYong Motors UK has now added 11 new dealerships in the past eight months, with DS Dalgleish & Son in Coldstream and Oakwood Specilaist Cars in Whitley Bay among the newest recruits.

And in March the manufacturer appointed Ian Wilson as dealer recruitment manager to oversee the growth of the brand’s dealer network as it eyes further expansion.

A statement issued by SsangYong UK said that the Platinum Group ethos was to employ specialists in the fields of car purchasing, information technology, finance, personnel and aftersales ensuring that the process of continuous improvement is sustained.

The policy ensures high quality and an efficient service by providing customers with the support of its highly skilled and committed staff, it added.

In 2019, the Platinum Group underwent a relocation project for some of its brands, making way for SsangYong Motors UK at its site in Frome.
