Hidsons Ltd has added a second Ssangyong franchise to its business with the opening of a new showroom in Northfleet.

The Rainham-based franchised dealer group, which also represents Citroen, Kia, Mitsubishi and Vauxhall in its Kent market area, opens the SsangYong franchise within its premises at Oakwood Industrial Estate, Thames Way, Northfleet, two years after first partnering the Korean manufacturer.

Nigel Hidson, dealer principal of Hidson’s SsangYong, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to represent SsangYong and greatly look forward to playing our part in its continuing success. 

“SsangYong has a great range, and with very competitive pricing and a 5-year limitless mileage warranty on every car, we believe it will do extremely well in our area.”

In June SsangYong announced the appointment of five new sales and service dealerships as the brand prepares to launch its new Rexton large SUV.

Canterbury SsangYong, Duthies of Montrose, FG Barnes Maidstone, Burrows Motor Company in Sheffield and SB Wakefield have all become franchised partners of the Korean brand in the latest raft of appointments.

Speaking at the time, Paul Williams, chief executive of SsangYong Motor UK, said: “Confidence in SsangYong is growing steadily as our performance and improving media profile indicate, and the quality of prospective new dealers is extremely encouraging.

“We expect to be able to announce another tranche of new dealers in the near future.”

There are now 65 franchised dealers and 11 authorised repairers in the Ssangyong Motor UK franchised network, but the manufacturer is actively looking for more dealers to represent the brand in a number of locations.

Its current open points include: Aberdeen, Ayr, Blackpool, Bristol, Cambridge, Derby, Grimsby, Hull, Inverness, Lincoln, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, North Birmingham, Oxford, Perth, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Southend, Swindon, Taunton, Teesside, Truro, Watford, Worcester, Worcester, Wrexham and York.
