Vindis Group has applied for planning permission to build a new Volkswagen showroom in Cambridge and transform its former Bentley showroom into a Skoda facility.

An application has been submitted to Cambridge City Council detailing the group’s plans to demolish its existing Volkswagen showroom and develop a new building at the site on Milton Road alongside the redevelopment of its neighbouring former Bentley site as a Skoda franchise.

Also included in the application is the proposed demolition of the existing valet business, which will be replaced with a smaller, more suitable one, Insider Media reported.

Proposals for the new Volkswagen showroom on Milton Road detail inside display space for 16 cars, while the Skoda site will accommodate 18 new and used vehicles.

Cambridge City Council is expected to reach a decision on the scheme on September 12.

The move comes after Vindis Group relocated its Bentley operation to a new site at the Lakes Business Park in nearby Fenstanton.
