Dealers’ growing appetite for AFVs has prompted BCA to establish a specialist online sale trading in electric and hybrid vehicles.

A successful trial convinced the remarketing specialist that a regular sale for EV and hybrid vehicles was a good idea and the event will now take place on BCA’s e-Auction platform on the first Thursday of every month at 2.30pm.

Early results for some of the UK’s largest fleet operators and manufacturers have shown strong demand, with vehicles achieving over 102% of CAP Clean, said BCA.

The e-Auction allows vehicles to be sold from a variety of locations, offering buyers the widest range of stock.

Max Brough, e-Auction manager, said: “A focused approach to the sale of electric and hybrid vehicles has delivered some strong results.

“They are open to anyone with a live online login, and all bidding is done remotely.

“The prices achieved are a testament to the quality of the vendors and growing popularity of our online platforms.”

BCA’s specialist AFV sales have attracted a range of stock from Nissan Leaf and Renault Zoe to Toyota Prius and Mitsubishi PHEV, Mercedes E300 Hybrid and BMW i3.

BCA said that it recently recorded record activity on its Live Online platform average monthly penetration of 27% and over 1,000 active bidders participating.

During peak times BCA claimed to have seen 1,000 bids placed through the system in a five-minute period.
