A “devious” former service assistant found guilty of stealing £3,000 from John Clark Motor Group’s BMW Aberdeen dealership has been jailed for four months.

Charlotte Roche worked at the facility between November and December 2014 but came under scrutiny after she suddenly took ill with a ruptured abdominal ulcer on December 16, 2014, shortly after boss Raymond Henderson was informed of missing customer payments.

The Press and Journal reported that witnesses claimed to have handed over cash for garage services to a woman matching Roche’s description in the weeks prior to her sudden illness.

The dealership’s accounts department later found the money and invoice slips – which should have been deposited under Roche’s name – were missing from petty cash.

In an early appearance at Aberdeen Sheriff Court Roche was described as a first-time offender, but it later transpired that she had been spared jail in England for scamming her ex-boyfriend out of more than £14,000 pounds by convincing him she had cancer.

A previous employer in the 31-year-old’s native Ireland was also conned out of30,000 Euros, the court heard.

Sheriff Eric Brown described Roche as a “devious and manipulative” individual who had been “economical with the truth”.
