Toyota reveals prices for hybrid-only RAV4 (gallery)

Toyota's franchised car dealer network is now taking orders for the new RAV4 SUV, which is exclusively available with hybrid engines.

Priced from £29,635, the new model will be available in dealerships by February with first deliveries in April.

It features a new 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain, with the option of front- or all-wheel-drive.

In front-wheel drive models, maximum output is 218PS, with CO2 emissions from 102g/km, while in the all-wheel drive powertrain, power is 222PS with emissions from 103g/km.

Toyota says the emissions figures are provisional prior to official homologation.

The new RAV4 adopts the brand’s TNGA platform, reducing the vehicle’s overall height and the height of the bonnet, while improving passenger accommodation and load space within a longer wheelbase.

Toyota says the RAV4’s handling, comfort and stability is improved due to a lower centre of gravity and increase in body rigidity.

Four equipment grades are offered: Icon, Design, Dynamic and Excel.

Standard features include rear parking sensors, LED headlights, push button start and rear view camera. All models also feature the Toyota Safety Sense 2 system, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control and Lande Departure Alert.

Design models additionally feature sat-nav, an electric tailgate and keyless entry.

Excel adds Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, electric folding door mirrors, leather upholstery with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

A sportier Dynamic model is avaioable, based on Design trim. It features black 18-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, bi-tone metallic paint and a black headlining.

All new RAV4 models are equipped with the second generation of Toyota Safety Sense. Significant upgrades have been made to some of the systems in the package, notably with the Pre-Collision System now able to detect pedestrians in the vehicle’s path during both day and night-time driving, and cyclists during daylight hours.
