BVRLA appoints its spokesman Toby Poston as chief executive

The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) has named Toby Poston as its new chief executive succeeding Gerry Keaney who is retiring at the end of the year.

With 16 years at the BVRLA, Poston currently serves as director of corporate affairs, overseeing policy, public affairs, communications, events, research, and fleet services.

He has been the association’s leading spokesperson, guiding the industry through significant challenges like Brexit, the Covid pandemic, and terrorist incidents involving rental vehicles.

“Toby is the ideal person to lead the association through the challenges ahead,” said BVRLA chairman Jon Lawes.

“He has transformed our policy and public affairs team and significantly elevated the association’s influence. Toby brings a deep knowledge of the industry, a clear strategic vision, and a passion for delivering value to our members.”

Poston said: "I am thrilled and honoured to continue working with an industry, membership, and team I hold in such high regard. My focus will be on strengthening the BVRLA’s reputation and capabilities to help members navigate decarbonisation and regulatory changes."

Before joining the BVRLA, Poston spent over a decade as a journalist and editor, primarily with the BBC’s Business & Economics Unit.
