AM100's Motus Group completes sale of truck and van division

Motus Group UK, the AM100 franchised dealer group which owns the Pentagon Motor Group and Motus Truck & Van businesses, has completed its disposal of the latter company.

The imminent sale of Motus Truck & Van was first reported by Automotive Management in December, and the acquirer is SAGA Truck and Van, part of the international RCM SAGA corporation, which entered the UK in 2023 with its takeover of Kent commercial vehicle dealer group Sparshatt Truck and Van.

Now completed, the integration forms one of the largest Mercedes-Benz Truck, Mercedes-Benz Van and FUSO partnerships in the UK.

The combined businesses now have 10 dealerships and a dedicated accident repair service.

SAGA branding will be rolled out over the coming weeks at the former Motus locations in Essex, Hertfordshire and East Anglia.

Philippe Canetti, European director of SAGA Trucks, said: "Together we represent a potential 1,200 trucks and 2,500 van sales in the UK, with six hundred employees and a revenue around 400 million Euros."

RCM SAGA trades in six European countries from 134 dealerships, including over 60 Mercedes-Benz car, truck and van sites.

The disposal will mean a drop down the AM100 turnover table for Motus, which has owned Pentagon Motor Group since 2017. The combined business ranked in 13th place of the latest AM100 but the disposal of the truck business could leave Motus around 20th place in the next AM100 research.
