Swansway has expanded its Honda representation with the acquisition of Gordon's Honda in Bolton for an undisclosed sum.

The deal marks a return to the town for Swansway's family owners the Smyths after group chairman Michael Smyth started his previous dealer group RRG Group in Bolton in 1967.

Smyth built up the business and sold it to Marubeni Corporation in 2000.

The Gordon's Honda site on Folds Road in Bolton takes Swansway to 19 sites, three of which are fellow Honda sites in Rochdale, Manchester and Stockport.

Smyth said: “Being back where it all started is special for us; we’ve remained a family owned and run business, my sons were born and brought up in Bolton, so to return to the town gives us all great pleasure.

“We already have experience of the Honda brand, operating three further sites in the area and we’re looking forward to getting to grips with our latest centre, back in our home town."
