AM100 dealer group Sytner has a new group managing director.

Darren Edwards (pictured) was promoted from managing director of the Volkswagen Group division at the Leicester-based firm. He takes over from Gerard Nieuwenhuys, who becomes chairman.

Edwards has worked for Sytner since 2004 when he was a sales director and then dealer principal. In 2009 he became BMW franchise director before taking the divisional MD role.

Former chairman Laurence Vaughan is now a non-executive director.
