Mercedes-Benz UK has crowned the Apprentice of the Year for Technical and the Apprentice of the Year for Parts, culminating in a week-long work experience at the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One team alongside team principal Ross Brawn, who started his own career as an apprentice.

Richard Griffiths of Mercedes-Benz Swansea, the winner of the Technical Apprentice of the Year, will spend a week with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One team, working in various departments, including R&D, race support, build (gearbox, sub assembly and hydraulics) and the wind tunnel.

Parts apprentice winner Lorenzo Puliti of Mercedes-Benz Colindale is with the teams working on inspection, wind tunnel and race.

Angela Shepherd, head of training at Mercedes-Benz UK, said: “Richard and Lorenzo are great examples of what the Mercedes-Benz Apprentice Programme can do for young people, and we are delighted they will get to experience a week at MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS, especially meeting Ross Brawn – a fantastic example of how valuable apprenticeships can be as the starting point for successful careers.”
