Lookers has acquired four-site Audi group Lomond Motors for an undisclosed sum.
Lomond operates four Audi dealerships in Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Ayr, as well as the distribution of trade parts for the VW Group in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Peter Jones, Lookers chief executive, said: “The acquisition is an important development in the group’s representation of the Audi brand and our relationship with the VW Group and we are very pleased to be representing the brands in such key locations.
“Lomond is a business for which we have tremendous respect and we are looking forward to welcoming its great team of people to Lookers."
The acquisition strengthens the group’s presence in Scotland, where it operates as Taggarts Motor Group in Glasgow and Motherwell and represents the Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo, Nissan, Peugeot and Hyundai brands.
Lookers’ strategy is to continue to expand organically and to “enhance this with meaningful and complementary acquisitions in both the motor and parts divisions”. The Lomond acquisition also fits with its plans to expand with German brands specifically.
The new Audi group deal follows on quickly from Lookers' acquisition of Northern Irish contract hire and fleet management company Fleet Financial in June. The company will trade as a division of Lookers' NI Charles Hurst Group. It manages more than 3,000 vehicles and has contracts with Sky, AXA Insurance, Phoenix Gas, Dale Farm and SHS Group among others.
