Welsh dealers Griffin Mill and Hutchings have acquired 85,250 sq ft unit on five acres of land to create three new car sales showrooms ready for the September plate-change.
Griffin Mill will open a new Nissan dealership as well as relocate its Skoda dealership. Hutchings will open a new Hyundai franchise.
The businesses expect the new development to create 30 new jobs across the three sites over the next 18 months.
Griffin Mill and Hutchings created a joint venture called Blog Properties to lease and manage 45,000sq ft of surplus accommodation at the site.
Anthony Griffin, managing director of Griffin Mill. said: “The premises at Treforest are good quality, ex-WDA, with a big open space which is easily adaptable for car showroom purposes.
“There is plenty of room for parking and storage, and it fronts onto a busy road. Its proximity to our head office, just half a mile away is ideal.”
John Hutchings, chairman of Hutchings and partner in Blog Properties said: “We are excited about the prospects for the project and the combined service offering the two businesses will provide.
“This is a significant investment between the two parties at a time of economic difficulty and we are delighted that we will be providing new jobs in the area.”
