After a BBC Top Gear stunt showed a Nissan Leaf running out of charge in Lincoln Nissan has decided to pay for installing a charging point in the city.
Nissan executives were angry after Top Gear's feature showed the Leaf coming to a halt in Lincoln short of its destination when its telematics showed the car had been deliberately driven around to reduce its charge and ensure it would never make it.
The PodPoint charging unit will be installed by the end of August, and charging will be free of charge to electric vehicle owners.
Top Gear's presenters will be invited by Nissan to return to Lincoln to be the first to use it.
