Go Car Warranty, a British based provider of online car warranties, has teamed with Kwik-Fit to launch its new Absolute car warranty package which will provide motorists with car warranty protection, a MOT test, MOT insurance and a service.

The absolute product is available now from just £399.

Go Car Warranty’s new Absolute product is unique to the car warranty market, combining their highest level of warranty with a service and MoT from its partner Kwik-Fit.

It describes it as providing consumers with a "one stop product" to protect and maintain their vehicle.

According to Go Car Warranty’s list of the parts that commonly led to a failed MoT, lighting and signalling were at fault in 18.9% of tests and accounted for 23.8% of all defects in 2008/09. It also accounted for more than 23% of defects and surfaced as a problem in more than 19% of tests in 2007/08 and 2006/07, allowing it to top the list of the most commonly failing car parts for all three years.

It was closely followed by car brakes, which proved to be a problem in some 17.1% of tests in 2008/09 and represented 21.5% of defects in that year – although both figures were down from the 17.8% and 22.7% reported in 2006/07.

Other parts that have been commonly at fault for a car failing its MoT include the suspension, which figured in 12.2% of tests and represented 15.3% of defects in 2008/09, as well as the body work, tyres and steering.

In a further warning to motorists the dangers and costs involved in owning a car have been further highlighted as the overall MOT failure rate has increased between 2006/07 and 2008/09, from 33.3% to 36.3%.

Kwik-Fit is Britain’s leading MoT tester, having carried out over 740,000 MOT tests last year alone.
