Vertu Motors has expanded into Bristol with its acquisition of the Williams Automobile site in Avon Meads.
The dealership will be rebranded Bristol Street Motors and will operate a Mazda franchise.
It is unclear what will happen to Williams' Morgan and Lotus businesses.
The site is the fifth Mazda franchise for Vertu Motors, alongside its Redditch, Cheltenham, Glasgow and Hamilton dealerships.
Vertu now operates 78 outlets nationwide including Iveco Bristol, which specifically trades in vans and trucks. The new Bristol Street Motors dealership will benefit from the group’s large network and financial support mechanism.
Steve Ferry, marketing director for Vertu Motors, said: 'Williams Automobiles has a fantastic reputation for customer service and its staff have in-depth industry knowledge. The dealership is in a perfect location to service customers from Bristol and the surrounding areas.
“Vertu Motors has built a recognised brand in Bristol Street Motors and is keen to develop its presence in Bristol.
“By acquiring the Williams Automobiles site, Vertu Motors has invested in the business growth opportunities within the city. Bristol Street Motors will open with the hope to expand and develop the business further.”
Vertu Motors plc trades under the Bristol Street Motors, Macklin Motors, Vertu Honda and Bristol Street Motor Nation brands.
It was formed in late 2006 to acquire and consolidate UK motor retail businesses. The group was founded as a new entrant into the UK motor retail sector and is listed on the AIM market.
The group represents 17 manufacturers in the UK.
