Volkswagen has released the first official image of its new CC which will go on sale in the UK in March 2012.

The new model will be displayed at the LA Motor Show on November 16 and VW has dropped the Passat title from the model name.

From launch, the UK engine range will comprise 1.8-litre TSI 158bhp or 2.0-litre TSI 208bhp petrols and a 2.0-litre TDI common rail diesel with either 138bhp or 168bhp.

All models with 168bhp or more also now get a standard XDS differential, an electronic cross-axle traction control system for improved traction and handling.
