Franchised dealer Derek Boston is closing his family business after more than 50 years in motor retail.

Boston's Motors in Stafford held Ford and Talbot and franchises while under the ownership of his father, Gordon.

After Gordon's death in the 1980s, Derek ran it with Fiat and Daihatsu franchises. However with sales running down and Daihatsu's withdrawal from the UK he has now decided to retire, and had the tough job of closing the business and making his 15 staff redundant.

Customers are now being directed to Platts of Stoke, which is opening a Fiat and Alfa Romeo outlet in Stafford's Tollgate area soon.
