Vauxhall has completed its sponsorship deals with the UK’s home nations and has pledged to become a “driving force” behind football in the UK.

The four contracts with England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales will run up to and including the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and include sponsorship of all national teams and a full inventory of other grass roots national football programmes.

The sponsorship deals come into place as each of the home nations’ football associations discuss reviving the home nations football tournament in 2013. The FA is investigating the proposal as part of its 150th anniversary.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, plus the Republic of Ireland, are due to take part in the Carling Nations Cup in February and May this year. It was thought that the FA's new sponsorship deal with Vauxhall, who are also sponsoring all the other home nations, might encourage England to enter a yearly tournament.
