Dealers are being offered an opportunity to sell misfuelling insurance to fleet customers which covers the cost of draining and flushing the fuel tank, as well as replenishing it.

The insurance product from Complectus was developed with AXA Assistance and is one way fleets can minimise costs from misfuelling.

Peter Powell, Complectus’ managing director, said: "On average 150,000 drivers a year make the error of misfuelling.

"With modern engines running quieter, mixed fleets and with multi-car ownership, it’s easy to see how in a momentary lapse of concentration this happens."
