Bob Edmiston, chairman of Subaru, Isuzu, Daihatsu and Great Wall importer IM Group, has been made a life peer at the House of Lords.

He is a number of new peers nominated by the Conservative party which were announced on Friday.

In the announcement from Number 10 Edmiston was described as a “businessman and charity campaigner”.
