How did you get into the automotive business?
Joined Holt Lloyd in 1985 as a salesman.

What does your job entail?
Managing sales force, revenue/margin generation, network development, watching the market and future strategy.

How will your job change over the next few years?
A more central role with our distributors and more involvement with installers are both likely changes.

Other jobs?
High street retail management, various sales roles, managed a telesales and customer services operation, running my own business, national accounts management.

What advice would you give to youngsters joining the industry?
Go for it but look for a good company that will train you.

What’s the worst career move you’ve ever made?
Joining a wallpaper and decorating suppliesfirm, a very short-term job as it turned out!

And the best?
Joining Motaquip – this role has stretched me more than any other.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Definitely still in automotive.
