Carl Klemm, deputy managing director of Toyota UK's engine plant in Deeside, Wales, was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

The award was granted for his services to the automotive industry and the north Wales community.

The plant is getting an £88 million investment to develop a range of fuel efficient petrol engines, with production due to start late in 2009.

And the Toyota UK Deeside Charity Committee has raised more than £66,000 for many local charities and community services including the NSPCC in two years.
