Chris Oliver, AJC Wilson managing director, has been appointed chairman of the Audatex technical committee.

Audatex approached Oliver as it wanted a chair with a good knowledge of the industry, who also had “a pragmatic, open approach which would lead the committee to make some good strong conclusions”.

He replaces Phil Gledhill, insurance motor engineering consultant and insurer/corporate liaison in the committee, who has been heading it for the last three months.

It was previously led by Alan Morgan, an independent consultant who resigned to pursue other interests.

Oliver said his role is overseeing operational and technical elements of a complicated system and not about getting involved with operational details.

He added: “If we can bring an increased level of transparency about the system to repairers, then that would be a good level of success.”
