Delphi is helping independent workshops in its Delphi Service Centre network to capitalise on engine management and chassis maintenance. The moves will introduce new modules by the end of this year to provide training, technology and support for these elements of the market.

It follows the dieselpoint and air-conditioning modules already implemented.

“Key market drivers such as emission standards, fuel economy, safety, security, comfort and convenience have led to exponential growth of electronic content on modern vehicles,” said Mike Rayne, vice-president of Delphi Product & Service Solutions. “This is a huge opportunity for garages.”

Engine management and emission systems represent more than 60% of diagnostic fault codes identified by workshops.

And while chassis repairs represent a large proportion of business for independents, the growth in chassis control systems, adaptive suspension and stability control systems means that many modern cars need diagnostic equipment for basic services.
