A car supermarket group has featured in a list of the UK's fastest growing companies.

Motorpoint was placed 83rd in the Sunday Times Top Track 250, which tracks the UK's leading privately-owned mid-market companies based on their sales performance.

The company, which is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, has annual sales of more than £290m – up £50m on the previous year.

It is the third successive year the firm – with outlets in Burnley, Glasgow, Newport and Peterborough – has featured on the list.

Managing director David Shelton said although car retailing remains competitive he expects to sell 35,000 cars this year, "and more next year".
