Volkswagen has increased its stake in the Swedish truck maker Scania from 18.7% to 20.03%.

The increase represents 35.31% of the voting rights in Scania (VW previously had 34%).

VW says this step underlines the importance it attaches to its participation in Scania.

Volkswagen also recently increased its stake in MAN to 29.9%.

The German manufacturer said the bigger stake ‘will safeguard the strategic interest of the VW group in the commercial vehicles business and are adequate for finding a friendly and mutually agreeable solution to realise the acknowledged high synergies’.
