Dealers can now buy stocks of used vans online following BCA’s extension of its LiveOnline web-based auction service to the light commercial vehicle market.

Fortnightly sales have begun at BCA Blackbushe, and will be rolled-out at its other sites. The first sale attracted 73 online dealers, who accounted for 13% of the units sold.

The move comes 18 months after rival Manheim launched its online LCV sales, CV Live.

BCA said it is addressing online bidders’ concerns about condition. The typical used LCV entered by lease and contract hire operators is 30 months old with 60,000 miles. A grading system of one to six is applied to indicate cost of refurbishment required, where grade one is £0 and grade six is £1,000+.

“We only offer LCVs from pedigree sources, professionally inspected and accurately catalogued,” said Duncan Ward of BCA.
