Former motor retailer Robin Brundle has taken the managing director’s role at Aston Martin Racing, the prestige brand’s motorsport team operated by Prodrive.

Brundle had been managing director of John Brundle Motors in Norfolk for 23 years. At its peak in the late 1990s, the business held franchises for Peugeot, Toyota, Lexus, Skoda, Honda, TVR and Maserati at a large site in Tottenhill.

But in 2003 it lost the Toyota and Peugeot franchises after coming under pressure to relocate, and closed the remaining operations.

In November 2006, Brundle exited motor retail after selling his sole remaining dealership, King’s Lynn Volkswagen, to Martin Bennett, a former VW UK franchise manager. Brundle is a brother of Martin Brundle, former F1 driver and now motorsport commentator.
