UK car production saw a 31% rise in October to 152,253 units.
Out of those vehicles produced, 81% were destined for export. Commercial vehicle production also showed signs of recovering with an 11.8% rise in October.
Christopher Macgowan, SMMT chief executive, said: “October marked the fourth successive month of double digit growth in UK car production this year, with a 31.1% rise.
“This continued recovery is the result of strong demand for new models coming on stream. With the six month volumes up 12.4%, we may even pass the year end forecast total of 1.525 million units.”
