Volvo has announced prices for its new entry-level 2 litre petrol and diesel engines in the V70 estate and S80 saloon, which are expected to account for as much as 60% of each model’s UK sales.

Prices for the 142bhp petrol model start at £24,995 in the V70 and £23,495 for the S80. The 133bhp diesel engine carries a £500 price premium, priced at £25,495 in the V70 and £23,995 in the S80. Both engines are available to order now for a January delivery.

Nick Connor, Volvo Car UK sales director said: “We know from industry data that 2 litre diesel engines in particular account for around 60-80% of some rival manufacturers’ executive car sales, so we are excited about the new sales opportunities these engines will provide."
