The Careers Village at the British Motor Show has been deemed a success, with thousands of visitors exploring the stand between July 20-30 at London’s ExCeL Arena.

Set up by a number of bodies and organizations led by the SMMT and ASC, the partnership’s focus was to deliver careers information and advice to visitors in order to show them the range of opportunities available across the automotive retail and manufacturing sectors.

Phil Hope, skills minister, was on hand on July 26 to talk to manufacturers and members of the public about a number of issues currently facing the motor industry, including the need for the government to attract and fund employees above the age of 25.

“It is important to realize that the competitiveness of the UK’s automotive industry depends on a constant supply of talented and enthusiastic people,” he says.
