Honda will increase production at its Swindon plant to full capacity next year.

The Swindon plant is currently running at three quarters of its full potential. However, an extra shift will be added, raising total output to 250,000 vehicles a year.

Takeo Fukui, Honda’s president and CEO, announced the production rise at today’s Paris Motor Show. He also said Swindon would be recruiting 700 extra staff to take its workforce to 4,900.

Fukui said the rise was due to high demand for the new Civic and CRV models.
