Sandy Burgess has been appointed as the new president of the Scottish Motor Trade Association for a term of two years at its annual meeting.
He joined the board in 2002 and was appointed vice-president in early 2005.
In his inaugural address Burgess indicated that he considered the SMTA members’ relationships with the consumer to be all important and looked forward to a motor industry code of practice being put in place during his term of office.
"It is clear to me that consumers and the Government expect the motor trade to put its house in order and I look forward to working closely with the other leading UK organisations involved in the motor industry to ensure that we can produce and endorse one code relevant and respected by the entire industry," said Burgess.
