Car production in the UK increased slightly last month as the closure of the MG Rover plant at Longbridge no longer impacted on the year-on-year figures.
A total of132,300 cars were made in the UK in May - up 0.2% on the same month in 2005.
However overall car production so far this year is down 6.3% compared with the January to May period last year, according to the Office for National Statistics and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
